Valentine’s Day Chocolate Bark

This really is a great holiday, Valentine’s Day. Not just because we are all feeling loved, but because of the all the chocolate and desserts. These Valentine’s Day Chocolate Bark bars are a great homemade Valentine’s Day gift to prepare. They are beyond simple to make and you can make any and all of these variations of chocolate bark.

Of course there has to be some red in these chocolate holiday gifts. You can swap out the frozen raspberries for strawberries, dried cranberries/cherries, or dehydrated strawberries. Making one of these Valentine’s Day Chocolate Bark bars with red gives this chocolate treat a bit of a holiday theme.

This chocolate dessert is really healthy. There is no added sugar, no additives, or anything bad. Now of course if you add candy, or candy chocolate to the chocolate, well then there go goes the healthy part. Part of the concept of these Valentine’s Day Chocolate Barks is to make them better for you chocolates.

If you are looking to give some of these as gifts, place the chocolate in a clear baggie wrapped with red and pink ribbon. Keep them refrigerated up until gifting. The chocolate will soften slightly if left at room temperature.

Valentine’s Day Chocolate Bark

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Dark Chocolate Chips melted
  • 1 TBLS Coconut Oil melted

Optional Toppings

  • Brown Rice Cereal
  • Marshmallows
  • Frozen Raspberries
  • Chopped Hazelnuts
  • Sea Salt

Instructions

  • 1. Over a double boiler melt the dark chocolate with the coconut oil. Stir until well melted. If you are not using a double boiler melt in the microwave using a microwave safe bowl. Add the chocolate chips first. Microwave for 30 seconds. Add another 30 seconds. Now add the coconut oil and microwave for 15 seconds. Carefully mix well with a spatula until coconut oil and chocolate have all melted. 
    2. Using wax paper place on a small tray or baking tray. Pour 3 even and separate amounts of chocolate on to the wax paper, using the spatula to shape a square. While the chocolate is still melted add your bark toppings to each chocolate bark. Pop this into the freezer to set for 30 minutes to an hour. 
    3. Break into pieces once set and store in the freezer until ready to enjoy.
