Cabbage Smoothie

Yes cabbage in a smoothie! Let's get right into why this should be a regular snack item in your routine. When we think of red cabbage we usually think of a stew, sauerkraut, or sauted in a stir fry. Well blending into a delicious smoothie like this one helps to promote so many areas of your health. 

Red cabbage is an incredible anti inflammatory and anti oxidants. I know I talk a lot about anti inflammatories and oxidants but they really are vital to the quality of our health. You would think that a cabbage raw in a smoothie would be digestively uncomfortable. But it's not at all. Red cabbage actually aids in digestion. Due to the potency of the amount of glutamine and glucosinolates help to line the digestive track. Also these compounds, specifically glucosinolates help to reduce cancer rates. Which is true for most of cruciferous vegetables. 

Yields 2 servings 


1 cup of sliced purple cabbage 

2 frozen bananas 

1 cup of blueberries - fresh or frozen 

1 1/2 cups of unsweetened almond milk - (I used New Barn) 

2 tablespoons almond butter 

1 tablespoon raw cashews 

2 tablespoons of honey -(I used blackberry honey) 


> Dehydrated blueberries (Trader Joe's) 

> Raw Cashews- chopped 

> Raw Almonds - chopped


1. Place all the ingredients into a high power blender. 

2. Slowly increase the speed and blend in high until the smoothie is nice and smooth. 

3. Pour into 2 cups and garnish as desired.
