A healthy snack you will feel good giving your kids
Rice crispy treats have been a part of everyones lives at one point in time. If you have kids they probably ask for them for a snack at school, or when you were a kid you remember getting them in your lunch box. I sure do! That foil bright blue wrapper filled with a sugary good treat inside. There is nothing wrong with occasionally having one and giving one sometimes to your kids, but to always have them in your pantry and an easy grab and go sweet treat thats when it isn’t good. Like I always say if it is there (our pantry/kitchen) we will eat it.
No one wants to get rid of treats in their diet. I believe that everyday we all should enjoy a little something sweet and delicious. The key to maintaining health implementing this wonderful habit is in moderation and the quality of the product.
What makes this good for you
It is the all the ingredients that make something either good or bad for us. Rice crispy treats and many other packaged sweet treats and desserts have a lot of refined sugars, a lot of preservatives, and basically filled with sugar and junk. Basically refined sugars are not good for us and can lead to many health problems down the road the more we eat them. Sugar is addicting. When it give it to kids they want more and more more and more. The younger they get foods that are high in sugar the more they increase their sugar threshold. This something we don’t want to do.
Natural Sugars
We want to make sure we consume natural real sugars. You may hear that term “natural” a lot. This means exactly what you think, it comes from nature. So instead of adding loads of sugars and refined sugars this recipe for Brown Rice Crispy Treats uses only sugar from nature which means our body knows how to metabolism it correctly making it a treat we can have in moderation and enjoy!
