Grilled Avocado Stuffed with Spicy Tuna

Avocado, yes it is a fruit. It is a unique fruit is that it is a fat and savory and not sweet and dense in carbohydrates. Nonetheless it is a extremely good for you. I have talked a lot about antioxidants, and well I am going to talk more about them. Avocados are a great source of antioxidants. They protect against free radicals, and in this case avocados are great in supporting eye health. 

Nutrient works best in our bodies when pared correctly. In this case avocados are mainly fat and there are certain nutrients like carotenoids that are found in many fruits and vegetables that protect the body against disease. When these fruits and vegetables are pared with a fat, like avocado they allow for better absorption. Which basically means the body absorbs it better and then utilizes the nutrient more efficiently. Allowing for your health to improve. 


Yields 3-4 servings 


2 ripe Haas avocados - halved and pits removed 

2 wild caught yellowtail tuna steaks -  chopped (make sure it is sushi grade)

1/4-1/2 teaspoon aji pepper flakes or red pepper flakes 

2 tablespoons mirin 

1/4 cup tamari

Olive oil 


Garnish- roasted sesame seeds


Cut avocados in half and remove the pit. 

Lightly brush the halves with olive oil and place on a hot grill or griddle pan.

Grill it for 4-6 minutes, until marks are formed. Carefully remove it because it will be hot!

Meanwhile chop the yellowtail tuna and place it in a bowl. 

Add all the other ingredients and mix well. 

Once the avocado is done, stuff the center with the spicy tuna mixer. 

You can serve with some wasabi and more tamari. 

Garnish with roasted sesame seeds and serve.
